6th Edition Youth Empowerment Program

On September 11, 2022, the Prince Michael Atobatele Foundation celebrated the 6th edition of its Youth Empowerment Program, “Beyond Education.” The event commenced with a memorial service for Prince Michael Atobatele, followed by the annual summit and empowerment program. Held at the Women Development Centre, Isheri, the competition saw numerous talented youths showcasing their skills in various fields. Ultimately, 50 youths were empowered with essential tools and resources in the following categories:
- Fashion Design: 20 youths
Catering: 15 youths
Barbering: 15 youths
Hairdressing: 15 youths
Tie and Dye: 10 youths
The event featured speeches from notable attendees such as Dr. Olufemi Omololu, Medical Director at Lagos Island Maternity Hospital, who praised the foundation’s charitable acts. Princess Oluwatoyin Rachael Atobatele, the foundation’s convener, reiterated their commitment to supporting youths by providing tools like sewing machines, gas cookers, hair dryers, clippers, and textile chemicals. The Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation was also in attendance, with Adejoke Oshodi-Olasunkanmi, Head of the Skill Acquisition Development unit, speaking on its behalf.
Since 2017, the Youth Empowerment Program has supported over 230 youths, helping them to start or further their businesses. The foundation aims to continue expanding its reach and impact, with plans to engage more youths in skill-building activities.
Future Prospects
The 6th edition of the Youth Empowerment Program showcased the foundation’s dedication to creating opportunities for underprivileged youths. Congratulations to all the winners, and we look forward to many more years of impactful community service and empowerment.
