8th Memorial Summit/ Youth Empowerment Program

On September 11, 2024, the Prince Michael Atobatele Foundation proudly hosted the 8th annual Memorial Summit & Youth Empowerment Program. This special event honored the memory of Uzii through a touching memorial service and furthered his legacy by empowering the next generation of changemakers.
In August, we organized a competition at the Women Development Centre, Egbeda, where 85 talented youths demonstrated their skills and ambitions. From this remarkable group, 30 individuals were selected to receive support in the following categories:
Fashion Design: 10 youths
Catering: 9 youths
Barbering: 5 youths
Hairdressing: 6 youths
Event Highlights
This year’s summit featured inspiring talks from distinguished leaders who embody the spirit of entrepreneurship. The event was chaired by Mrs. Toke Benson Awoyinka, Honorable Commissioner of Tourism, Art, and Culture, with opening remarks from the Foundation’s Chairman, Mrs. Lai Koiki. A panel of experts, including Mrs. Funke Fayemi, Mrs. Tope Daramola, and Mr. Samuel, shared valuable insights on overcoming challenges and creating opportunities through entrepreneurship.
In addition to the expert talks, past program winners took the stage to share their success stories, demonstrating the life-changing impact of the program. A particularly touching moment came when Uzii’s friends spoke about his enduring influence, expressing pride in his mother and the foundation for continuing his legacy of empowerment.
Empowerment Program Details
This year’s program continued the legacy of Prince Michael Atobatele, who passed away in 2016, by providing practical, life-changing support to our beneficiaries. Attendees witnessed the distribution of essential resources—including sewing machines, gas cylinders, and clippers—tools that will empower these young individuals to thrive in their chosen vocations and build successful futures.
